Gwyneth Paltrow looked so good at the National Movie Awards in London last night. I love this pink prada dress, I love the green necklace, and I love her hair! Gorgeous.
And speaking of Gwyneth, did anyone else watch her on The Marriage Ref? She was pretty funny… and she, of course, looked great in Victoria Beckham.
I also really liked her in this Stella McCartney at an Iron Man Screening.
I used to refuse to wear a hat or sit under an umbrella when I was at the beach (and also frequented the tanning bed), but have since seen the error of my ways and now wear SPF 30 and bring a hat to the beach. I like my beach hats big and floppy. I think they make you look glamorous while keeping the sun off your face.
My go-to hat is a big floppy straw one. I think this is the one I have from Everything But Water:
My friend Emily just bought this hat, which is super cute and comes in fun colors. I really like that it is packable!
How cute is this Juicy Couture Pom Pom Straw Sun Hat!? I LOVE THIS, and it’d go with all your swimsuits.
This Striped X-Large Brim Hat is so Old Hollywood. This is perfect for sipping fruity drinks in your cabana.
This Helen Berman Striped Straw Hat is also glamorous, but a bit more understated.
The Aqua Floppy Hat with Crochet Trim is simple and adorable.
This Jessica Simpson Floppy Hat is super large and super fabulous.
I like the metallic accents on this Bop Basics Crochet Raffia Sunhat.
Love the striped band and the pattern on this Juicy Couture Open Weave Sunhat.
The big beads on the Lola for J.Crew Sun Hat are unexpected and make this hat super special.
This Gap Floppy Straw Hat is also fantastic and a great steal at $29.50.
I think it may be time for me to invest in an additional hat for my summer wardrobe…
I’ve been obsessing over this Milly Ruffle Jacket since I saw it last month in a piperlime ad. I love the color and the silhouette. Here’s how I’d style it – with a few other items I’ve been obsessing over (i.e. the J.Crew Hockney Satchel in Orchid Shadow and the Tory Burch Victor Perforated Wedge).
Old Navy Womens Long Perfect Tanks, $8.50
Milly Ruffle Jacket, $415
J Crew Matchstick jean in premium indigo wash, $98
Hockney satchel – J.Crew (orchid shadow), $250
Vintage Chanel 1980′s Gold Tone And Faux Pearl Signature Logo Clip On…, $675
I always love the fashion at the Cannes film festival, and this year did not disappoint! Here are some of my favorites:
Diane Kruger is always one of my favorites and I LOVE this Jason Wu hot pink/black dress. It’s nice to see her on the red carpet in something other than Chanel (however fabulous that usually is).
The new Gucci Premiere line was huge at Cannes. Selma Hayek looked so fantastic in this pale pink dress with gold accents.
Kate Beckinsale was on fire at Cannes! She kept turning up looking super fantastic. Here she is in Gucci Premiere as well. This was one of my favorite looks of the festival. Such a beautiful shade of pink. The silver sparkle accents are perfect, as is her hair and makeup.
I love this black Nina Ricci. Her hair is perfect again and, hello, did you see the earrings??
Here she is again, this time in Armani Prive. Love the big hair and the platform shoes.
and again looking fabulous in Temperly. If there was an award for Queen of Cannes, she’s surely get it!
Kristen Scott-Thomas looks amazing in this Lanvin gown. Definitely a show stopper.
She also looked so radiant in this Armani Prive.
Camilla Belle is always lovely. I really like this elegant Gucci black dress.
Here she is again in the popular Gucci Premiere. Stunning.
Michelle Williams in Sonia Rykiel at amFAR was one of my favorite looks at Cannes. Totally modern and hip. Love the sequin mini dress and satin platforms.
And here’s Michelle looking lovely in Chanel. I really like her new short hair.
Carey Mulligan is adorable in this Azzaro gown. I love the collar, bow at the waist, and POCKETS. Her retro hairstyle is perfect.
and here she is looking totally chic in RM by Roland Mouret.
Eva Longoria Parker looked lovely in this chiffon Pucci number.
and also fabulous in this minidress from Elie Saab.
People were divided on this one, but I thought that Marion Cotillard in Lefranc Ferrant looked awesome.
Just came across the website Charm & Chain, which has the most amazingly well curated selection of jewelry. They have everything, but I am most in love with the fantastic necklaces. There’s everything from one-of-a-kind pieces with vintage baubles, to totally modern chunky gems.
This Multi Colored Midnight Bow Necklace by Fallon is to-die-for.
I love the texture of all these different chains piled together, with hints of aqua and pink – Gertz Multi-Colored Chain Bib Necklace by Fallon.
This Multicolor Web Necklace by Frangos would be perfect with a little black dress.
Here is another great Fallon piece – I love the chunky gunmetal next to the rhinestones in this Christian Split Necklace.
These Roarke Bib Necklaces are so glam! I’d wear this with a white tee, skinny jeans, and a long cardigan.
I love gold and turquoise – I think it is a timeless color combination. This Kenneth Jay Lane toggle necklace is so great for the summer. Add some white clothing and you are good to go.
OMG, this Badgley Mischka Diamond Reef Sea Life Necklace is AMAZING. I wonder how much it weighs…
There are so many more incredible pieces. Lots of great eye candy for a Friday! Happy Weekend! xoxo
I ripped this recipe out of InStyle a few months ago and finally made it last night. It was delicious – a big hit with the husband too. We love asparagus and have been cooking it every week since it showed up in Whole Foods. The truffle butter was expensive, but worth it, and since there’s enough left to make this dish at least once more, I feel it was a justified purchase. The Recipe from Chef Amanda Freitag of The Harrison in NYC:
1 bunch asparagus
1 ½ cups orzo
2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
3 cloves garlic, peeled and sliced
½ cup heavy cream
1 tbsp unsalted butter
2 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese
1 tbsp grated pecorino Romano cheese
2 tbsp black truffle butter
Salt to taste
1 tsp cracked black pepper
In a 5-quart pot, bring salted water to a boil. Place washed asparagus in boiling water for 1 minute; remove with tongs and set aside. Cook orzo in same pot for 7-9 minutes; drain in a colander. Set aside. Trim the tough stem ends off asparagus and discard. Cut remaining asparagus into ¼ inch thick slices and reserve. In a medium pan, heat oil, then sauté garlic until golden brown. Add asparagus; add cooked orzo. Continue cooking over low heat and add heavy cream and butter, stirring constantly. Add cheeses and stir until they melt and combine. Stir in truffle butter, salt, and pepper. Serve topped with more parmesan.
As you can see, this is not a diet recipe, but definitely delicious!
I saw these on Jezebel last week and I am obsessed. On Jordan’s website he writes:
Dancers Among Us is a collection of NYC dance photographs featuring members of the Paul Taylor, Mark Morris and Martha Graham Dance Companies. This is an ongoing project that began in the spring of 2009. There were no trampolines or other devices used for these images, just thousands of hours of training!
The results are amazing.
See all the images on Jordan’s website.
Galliano showed his 2011 Christian Dior Resort collection in Shanghai last week. The collection was inspired by 1960s France, and was definitely lots of fun. Some of it was a little too Barbie for me, but here are my highlights.
Love the colors, the retro silhouettes, and all the bows and sparkle! I am also really into the big hair… I may need to get out my bump-it.
We had family visiting this weekend, so we made a yummy Sunday brunch (which I, of course, forgot to photograph). Hubby made his famous caesar salad, and I made a potato leek frittata and blueberry muffins.
This Martha Stewart recipe for blueberry muffins is, hands down, the best muffin recipe I’ve ever made. They are so delicious! Someone in the family, who will remain nameless, ate 4 of them.
We also had more peonies (told you I can’t get enough).
Maybe its because I wish I was in Cannes, but this Chanel Resort collection is exactly what I wish I was wearing right now… in the French Rivera, of course. I love that Karl sent “plus size” model Crystal Renn down the runway, especially after his comments about curvy girls. I feel like it was probably a PR move to make himself look better, but she totally rocked the runway. I also love that so many of the models were barefoot. Totally easy European elegance.
I love the long skirts, wide-leg pants, and THE HATS!! I’ll take one of each and have them sent to my yacht. Thank you.
