spring 2011 {couture}: christian dior and armani privé

The couture shows started in Paris yesterday.  Christian Dior’s John Galliano payed homage to René Gruau, the house’s illustrator in the forties and fifties who created some of the most iconic fashion imagery.  I love the updated take on the looks from that era.

Wouldn’t you just love to see one of those gowns at the Oscars!?

Armani Privé went in the opposite direction.  Bold, gem-inspired futuristic designs were totally sci-fi and fabulous.

I think Mr. Armani has made his own strong case for the Oscar Red Carpet as well!
